Buried a friend the other day, he was a little younger than me,
Boy you talk about getting hit between the eyes with a dose of reality.
I couldn't help but think about his life, and all the dreams he left behind.
Then I couldn't help but start thinking about mine.
The kids we were in high school, all grew up and moved away,
But it's funny how the dreams we had back then still seem to stay.
Tucked down deep in our hearts, while we do what must be done.
But the clock that's ticking on the wall won't stop for anyone…
And the time that seemed to be endless before,
Doesn't stretch out to forever anymore.

Now it's time to start to make those plans,
To finally see some foreign land,
Or to just spend hours, worry free, hanging out with friends,
It's time to write a song,
Time to tell a tale,
Time to learn to paint, or dance or maybe sail.
There's so many things on my life's wish list it seems,
That it's time to start mending all those broken dreams.

If I could live my life again, I wouldn't change one single thing.
I've been a great wife, mom and daughter,
And a hundred other things.
And every heartache on the way,
Has helped to make me who I am.
That doesn't mean that life always turned out like I planned.
And there's a million things I know I'll never do,
But that doesn't mean that there's not time to make some dreams come true.
